Tackling retail crime together in West Berkshire |
||
|
Hello Resident, We are continuing to work with partners to tackle retail crime effectively. In the last 12 months, 12 November 2024 to 10 November 2025, shoplifting charges have increased by 27% compared to the previous 12 months in West Berkshire. On Monday 10th November, we joined forces with West Berkshire Trading Standards to visit several retail stores, continuing efforts to build strong relationships with local businesses and address community concerns. Together we visited multiple stores in Twyford and Earley, where discussions focused on tackling antisocial behaviour, shoplifting, fly-tipping, underage sales, and the implementation of crime prevention techniques to support staff and improve customer safety. These visits are part of ongoing work to strengthen partnerships with retailers, share intelligence, and work collaboratively to reduce crime and improve the shopping experience for residents. It’s Safer Business Action Week, but it doesn't stop here. We are committed to making your local shops and town centres safer. Shoplifting is a criminal offence, and those caught will be arrested. | ||
